S.P.A.M. (Seriously Pondering All of the Message)

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009   News

Spam_Button_copy.jpgIf you don’t attend S.P.A.M. which is our Sunday Morning Study, then you are seriously missing out! We are currently in the midst of a study called “Lions, Fires, and Dreamers” which revolves around the O.T. Book of Daniel. In this study we are covering the two sections of Daniel which are broken evenly into the first section containing Stories of Courage, Death, and Bravery, and the unbelievable second section of End-Times Prophecy.

This is not a book for the faint of heart. Some of the subject material in this book involves men being fed to hungry lions, an army that stealth-attacks an entire city, and three men who are thrown alive into a raging furnace.

We also have a weekly poll in which we decide what our favorite items are, (our current one is our favorite Cartoon Show of all time), as well as a weekly announcement period where you can catch up on all things Luminous.

Come and check out what you’re missing – Sunday Mornings at 10:10am.

This week: Daniel Chapter 6 – “The Den of Lions”

Home Skillet Leftovers – Conflict

Monday, February 9th, 2009   Uncategorized

Home_Skillet_Button_copy.jpgLast night at Home Skillet, we talked an awful lot about conflict. Conflict can be defined as something or someone that we struggle with. It can take many shapes and forms in areas of our life such as Family, Friends, Personal Struggles, Sports, Activities, and even Church life.

There are Five different ways that we tend to handle conflict:

One – We can accommodate conflict by surrendering our own wishes and desires for someone or something else.

Two - We can avoid the conflict by changing the subject or ignoring the conflict altogether. In severe cases, you might even sever a relationship or two by going this route.

Three – We can collaborate on a conflict by working together to find a mutually beneficial solution.

Four – We can compromise on a conflict by finding a middle ground where we are partially satisifed with the outcome.

and

Five
- We can compete on a conflict by asserting our viewpoints over someone else’s.

Jesus had a lot to say about conflict. In Matthew 5:44, Jesus said, “I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” So, according to Jesus, when we have a conflict, we are supposed to deal with it in love and prayer.

What conflicts do you have going on in your life right now?

How would they change if you approached them through love and prayer?

Challenge: Try to resolve at least one of your conflicts this week.

Our current study series is called “The Lion, the Fire, and the Dreamer,” and is a study revolving around the Old Testament book of Daniel.

This week’s lesson will be from Daniel Chapter 5 and will revolve around the “Writing on the Wall” incident.

At Home Skillet, we will discuss certain passages of scripture or biblical ideas that are uncertain or tough to grasp in today’s culture and we’ll see exactly what God’s Word says as we marinade and sautee each passage together.

Hope to see you all this weekend!
