CIY is Almost HERE !!!

Hey gang,
For those of you who didn’t know, or haven’t thought about it in a while, CIY is almost here!
That means, you should have received your final letters by now, telling you how much of a balance you still owe the church. You NEED to pay that money by the deadline that it is due on June 14th, 2009.
For those who are already paid up and just waiting to go, here’s a couple of reminders. Please remember everything you need to bring with you including your Bible and a pen. You will be using both of these items a lot during the week, so it’s crucial that you have them.
Now, I haven’t been to Anderson University since the summer of 2003. The red shirt hanging in the youth room is actually from that conference. So, here’s what I remember about the conference from 6 years ago:
- You will have to walk pretty far to the dining hall and the auditorium, but nowhere near as far as Carbondale, and there are no bridges either.
- The food is done in a cafeteria/buffet style, not with a meal card, and it is phenomenal.
- There is an indoor pool, if you want to go swimming, and they have two diving boards, but they’re surface boards, not platforms.
- Ladies, if you want to go swimming, I recommend a one piece swimsuit as CIY will not allow two piece suits/bikinis and the swimming staff will not let you get into the pool with a t-shirt on.
- There are lots of trees/open fields that you can run around in, hang on, get lost in for recreational time. If you want to bring sports equipment with you, that’s fine.
- There is also a gymnasium for basketball/track running/etc…. if that sort of things suits you.
- There is limited A/C. What that means is that some rooms have it and some don’t. When I went in 2002, we had A/C….when I went in 2003, we were not so lucky. Bring a fan with you if you get hot during the night, just in case your room is not one of the lucky few to have A/C.
- There is no “mini-mart” as there is at Carbondale, IL. If you want snacks in your room, you better buy them before you go and bring them with you.
- You may see a group of people lining up to play a very interesting game entitled “Buck-Buck.” If you want to know what it is, just ask Jason Taggart who can tell you some stories about it.
We will meet at the church on the morning of June 15th at 10:30am to depart for Anderson, IN. If you are not at the church by 10:45am, understand that we will most likely depart without you because we are on a time schedule.
This week will be the most fun you’ll have all summer and you’ll have the chance to make lots of new friends and some great memories. I can’t wait to hang out with all of you this week and I can’t wait for it to get here.
